In 2014, a group of friends opened Hogshead as a place to meet over good food and drink. Here pub fare is made-from-scratch, with an emphasis on local and sustainable ingredients, game meats and seasonally inspired menus. Hogshead is proud of their nut-free kitchen and has a separate gluten-free fryer. Come in for their late night menu.

Atmosphere

Small, casual and laid-back Hogshead has a youthful vibe and is a favourite place to catch up with old friends or meet new ones. At the back is a display bar with high seats, cushioned bench seating line the walls and a patio hugs Canmore’s Main Street. Patrons can help themselves to board games.

Breakfast

Serving breakfast until 2 pm daily

  • Breakfast Poutine: grilled veggies or sausage and bacon hash, onion, aged cheddar, curds, house hollandaise and sunny side egg
  • Eggs Benny: smoked salmon, avocado or bacon with 2 poached eggs, English muffin, topped with hollandaise comes with hash or salad
  • Fruit Crêpes: five crêpes with berry compote and whipped cream

Dinner

  • Appetizers: Duck Fat Fried or Garlic Parmesan Fries; Pizza Bread; Nachos; Chicken Wings; Duck Wings; Build-a-Poutine
  • Daily Soup; Hogs Greens; Arugula Salad
  • Wild Boar Meatloaf Sandwich: open face with red wine demi and marinated five mushroom blend on herb focaccia; Cajun Chicken Club; Portobello Sandwich
  • Elk Burger: house ground elk and bacon, goat cheese and herb aioli on herb focaccia; Beef Burger: aged cheddar and mustard aioli on brioche bun
  • Fish and Chips: two pieces of Ocean Wise haddock with slaw and duck fat fries; Rack of Ribs: slow cooked with whiskey BBQ sauce; Mac and Cheese; Daily Veggie or Chicken Curry: comes with jasmine rice and garlic naan
  • Flatbreads: Wild Mushroom and Arugula; Spicy Chorizo; Roasted Veggie; Alberta Meat: sausage, bacon of ground elk; BBQ Chicken
  • Desserts: Warm Apple Crumble; Fiasco Vanilla Bourbon Gelato Bowl; Blueberry Cheesecake; Chocolate Kahlúa Lava Cake

Drinks:

Wine: $35 to $42, 10 choices; $8.50 to $11 by the glass
