Try the taste of authentic Indian cuisine in Canmore. The chefs at family owned Spice Hut are passionate about the delicacies they cook. Patrons are captured by the aromatic scent as soon as they step inside the restaurant. The variety of flavours pleases palates. Sample tasty appetizers and tandoori, bold curries, and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes that are all made from scratch.

Atmosphere

The restaurant has comfy booths, tables by big windows, and a separate room with a long table and granite bar that is great for small groups. The patio has glass windscreens through which guests enjoy a view of pines and mountains.

  • Appetizers: pakora (vegetables, chicken or fish marinated in chick pea, flour and spices); samosa savoury pastries (stuffed with vegetables, beef or chicken); papadums (light crisp waffles made from lentils)

  • Indian Bread: traditional or garlic naan; stuffed naan (veggie, chicken or beef)
  • Butter Chicken: chicken breast pieces in tomato, butter and cream sauce
  • Tikka Masala (chicken, beef, lamb or prawn): spiced onion and butter sauce
  • Curry (chicken, beef, lamb, fish or prawn): garlic, tomato, onion, ginger sauce
  • Korma (chicken, beef, lamb, or prawn): whip cream sauce, onion and peppers
  • Tandoori Specials (from a traditional clay oven): fish or chicken tikka; chicken malayi tikka; beef kabab; marinated prawns; served with rice and salad
  • Vindaloo (chicken, beef, lamb or prawn): with red chili sauce and potatoes
  • Vegetarian Dishes: daal makhni (lentils); chana masala (chick peas); aloo gobi (cauliflower); bhindi masala (fried ocra); bharta (clay oven roasted eggplant); jalfrezi (green, red and yellow bell peppers); all in East Indian sauces
