This Japanese restaurant satisfies a variety of cravings by offering over 100 items. The menu features Korean selections (including BBQ specialties) as well as many vegetarian dishes. Lunch and dinner bento boxes are beautifully presented and an excellent value, while expertly prepared rolls and mains are generously sized.

Atmosphere

Don’t let the strip mall location fool you—Mii Sushi & BBQ boasts attractive Asian inspired décor. Japanese art and plants (including a cherry blossom tree and purple orchids) offer a decorative touch. Watch chefs at work at the sushi bar with river rock facing, or choose to sit at one of the many large and comfortable windowside booths. Sports play on two flatscreens mounted above the bar.

  • Appetizers: edamame; gyoza dumplings; tempura; agadashi tofu
  • Udon Noodle Soups: vegetable, beef, chicken, tempura, seafood
  • Tempura: vegetable, yam, sweet potato, prawn and assorted
  • Sushi and Rolls: nigiri sushi, roll sushi, sashimi, temaki, sushi combinations
  • Mii House Special Roll: prawn tempura, cream cheese, avocado, imitation crab, crispy crumbs and special house sauce
  • Rocky Mountain Roll: California roll with BBQ eel, salmon, tuna, tobiko, green onion and sauce drizzled overtop
  • Teriyaki with Miso Soup and Rice: chicken, beef, salmon, tofu and veggie
  • Yakisoba, Katsu and Donburi: meat, fish and vegetarian options
  • Korean Cuisine: spicy kimchi soup; bulgogi (thin slices of marinated beef ribeye); L.A. galbi (barbecued short beef rib); hot pots with meats, veggies and noodles; spicy pan fried squid or pork; sizzling stone bibimbap (bowl of rice served with beef and vegetables)

Mains: $10 to $20 (lunch and dinner)

Drinks: wine (house merlot or chardonnay), $25 750-ml bottle, $21 half-litre, $8 glass; Japanese beer (including Sapporo, Kirin and Asahi) $7, $13 for the large size

Lunch and Dinner Bento Boxes: miso soup, salad and tempura with salmon and tuna sushi, sashimi and beef or chicken teriyaki, $16 to $20

Combinations: includes sushi rolls, nigiri and sashimi, $17 to $18

Sushi & BBQ Combo (serves two or three people): miso soup, smoked salmon salad, assorted tempura and sushi with bulgogi or spicy fried pork, $90
